Invite You to Presentation on Immigration Reform
Plymouth Congregational Church, Waveland Hall, 4126 Ingersoll Avenue, Des Moines
5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Social Hour, League presentation followed by featured speakers.
Everyone is welcome!
The speakers will highlight their personal stories, challenges, and struggles. Understanding their encounters and barriers will help you to understand why Immigration Reform is needed.
Featured Speaker:
7:00 pm Ann Naffier, an immigration attorney at the Davis Brown Law Firm in Des Moines; she practices family-based and employment-based immigration, and removal defense (deportation).
Guest speakers
7:15 pm Hector A. Salamanca,a Dreamer and an advocate in the Latino youth movement in Iowa. A former student at Des Moines Area Community College now at Drake University;
7:30 pm Dawn Martinez Oropeza is the Executive Director Latinas/ Latinos al Éxito, a statewide mentorship program for middle school Latinas.; motivate, prepare them for secondary and post high school education;
7:40 pm Amner Martinez, was born in Guatemala City in 1981 and has lived in Iowa since 1995. Amner is well known among the Latino community for his contributions. Amner currently holds a position with CornerStone Staffing. He helps to find opportunities for minorities and for local manufacturing industry.
